that I never post anything.
Since I started working I'm an even worse blogger.. I gotta do better about it. I have to organize myself better on these things that don't have a due date, because it's not that I wouldn't have what to blog about. And it's not that I wouldn't want to blog. Kitchen progress pictures are coming!

How does that look for you? For me it looks great. Last weekend I spent in Bolzano (Italy) where spring always arrives a month earlier than here in Austria. While we are happy about the first days that are reaching up to 20°C, in Bolzano the first flowers start to wither already. I enjoyed the blossoming trees so much, that I have to share some views with you, even though it's pretty much off-topic.

Nice, huh? :)

But I also did different things than taking pictures of flowers. On Saturday my boyfriend and I checked out 'Arredo', a fair about furniture and interior design, and 'Kunstart', a contemporary art exhibition, which was included in our Arredo ticket and was actually much more interesting then the fair itself. I'm a big fan of "using materials which are usually not on art"-art.. guess that's connected with my upcycling addiction ;). Here are some snapshots of my favourite pieces...

And talking about upcycling.. there was also an auction of upcycled design objects. Honestly, I wasn't blown away it, but maybe that was better, because I anyway wouldn't have been able to afford any of these pieces - not counting that I found them overpriced anyway ;) There was just one series of chairs by Etienne Reijnders made out of shopping carts that I really liked. You can see a picture on his website or in the auction catalogue.
PS: I still think the shopping carts were stolen... ;)

Last Saturday we (which means my dad and I) did this:

Wonder why? This is a hole for the pipes of the extractor. That means that I finally started my biggest project up to now. The kitchen. My parents will get a new kitchen (downstairs) and I will get their old one (upstairs) since there never was one. In near future this...

...should look approximately like that:

Will be a bit of work, but I'm really looking forward to it and I imagine that I will be really proud afterwards :) So to get a step closer to that we also nicely closed that hole again with PU foam and grout (if that is the correct word).

You see that we drilled a hole and put a screw in this flap-thingy. We did that to make it heavier, that it wouldn't move if you sneeze when you sit in the kitchen. Of course it still moves very easily now. I hope not to much, since it always makes this little "click" sound when it closes again.

Well, now everything is prepared for painting and most likely I will maximum have time to do the pantry this week. Its already itching in my fingers.. I want to start or better: to continue! Switches and plugs - all of them washed with soap and like new now - are also waiting to be put on again.

Here's a video that my friend Kathi sent me today. I have to share it, it's amazing!
Multifuncional space-saving furniture is great.

Long time no see. There were quite a few things that I could've posted about, but somehow the mood wasn't like posting. But I'm back now with something even better - I'm giving you a glance at my bedroom/office, where you'll also see what was added and done recently. So, come on in...

I added some more furniture. I brought another small desk that is similar to the one I already owned from my grandmother's house. I just took this chance and it's nice to have some space to do paper work without removing the laptop which is quite permanently parked there.

The left side of my locker I'm always redecorating. After having Christmas greeting cards on it I decided to put on a map (some part of upper Austria), since there are no more cards to expect until May (for my birthday). I got the map at the Trödelladen in Linz - a thrift store which is also a social project.

On the wall is my Christmas present from Sandra, with print/card that I found in the house and I fell in love with.

A bit hidden between the locker and the corner is my new hook rack. My dad said I found myself the oldest piece of wood available at home for that. I chose it because it had the right thickness and a color that fitted in my room and I don't mind if its more than 20 years old :)

This is my treasure. I'm not really good in taking care of pot plants (except cacti).. or at least I wasn't lucky up to now. But this one still looks healthy and I really hope that it will stay like that. Moreover I wouldn't be against if it would start blossoming again.

This shelf also has been there for a while and I didn't post about it. The metal frames are vintage or in other words: leftovers of my dad's room when he was a teenager. Unfortunately he had used the wooden inlays for something else already, so I bought new boards, that I painted the same way as my bedside table. The printer looks arkward there, but I didn't find a better place for it and on some things you have to make compromises, I said to myself. (I believe it up to now!)

My little photowall. Just in short: I tried to hang the pictures not aligned, just as the were put there one after another.. somehow random. It was hard and I'm still not totally convinced, but I think I can live with it for now. Next to it: my pinboard that is of high organizational power - don't know how people without pinboards can live.. I mean, somewhere there needs to be a space to put todo-lists, little paper pieces, and nothings that you don't want to throw away yet!

My shelf that was next to my desk moved and is now a kind of improvised second bedside table.

And this is my actual, not improvised bedside table. Love it. The most useful thing I ever created. I'm still looking for a nice bedsheets - all my "I will use something vintage" attempts failed unfortunately, since my blanket is bigger than the old covers. FREAKS. ME. OUT.

So, that's it, my bedroom. It is at a stage now, where I feel comfortable in it and also with it. Some things could be improved, but it's cosy and there are other priorities at the moment.. I'll let you know what that is.
